Mid-Term Exam Preparation

Students who wish to prepare for the mid-term exam may take College Reading Test—Form B Test Bank

Students earning a minimum of 70% on College Reading Test - Form B and have a minimum grade of "C" in class will NOT be required to take the mid-term exam, as scheduled.

Students who have passed College Reading Test --- Form B may use the time allotted for the mid-term to improve their overall score in class in one of two ways:
  1. Re-take a mini assessment
  2. Go online at townsendpress.net and complete any missing or incomplete assignments in Chapters 1 - 7.
ALL students, regardless of whether or not they passed the FCAT or the ACT are required to demonstrate competency via a "final assessment" for the end of the semester.

The final assessment consists of 40 multiple- choice comprehension questions that test four major competencies:
  1. author's message
  2. structural relationships
  3. language
  4. reasoning.
The “author’s message” competency includes:
  1. recognizing main ideas
  2. identifying supporting details
  3. determining an author’s purpose.
Within the “structural relationships” competency are:
  1. opportunities for identifying organizational patterns
  2. relationships within a sentence
  3. relationships between sentences.
The “language” competency involves:
  1. determining meanings of words or phrases in context
  2. detecting bias
  3. recognizing tone.
And finally, the “reasoning” competency means
  1. distinguishing between fact and opinion
  2. drawing logical inferences and conclusions
  3. evaluating reasoning.
Students who are unable to complete College Test B BEFORE your scheduled mid-term exam, will take College Test C the day of the mid-term.

Students needing extra time to complete College Test C must see me (in person) no later than the day of your scheduled mid-term to discuss your options.

Grades will be finalized by 10PM Sunday, January 13th for TP Online.  It is therefore the responsibility of the student to
  1. copy your portfolio
  2. turn in your portfolio (slide under the door in the morning)
no later than Wednesday, January 16th for grading.
