In 2011, Broward Public Schools
implemented a more rigorous curriculum to prepare students for Career and
College Readiness as identified by the Common Core State Standards. A new 11th
and 12th grade Improving Reading 1 and Advancing Reading 2 curriculum and texts have
been deployed for the high schools.
Ten Steps to Improving
College Reading Skills and Ten Steps to Advancing College Reading Skills are
the new texts for the 11th and 12th grade retake students. The following
syllabus is for the new course name; Improving Reading 1 (Course
Code 1000410L).
